Field Day

The TRARC Field Day Activity for 2017 is fast approaching. It is scheduled for the last full weekend of June 2017, on June 24-25th. Our location will be at the White Oak Park-Water Tower Site, located off of 599 Carpenter's Lane. Follow the link at

to find a map that you can use to find our Field Day site.

More details are to be announced at the upcoming June 20th TRARC club meeting. Below is a copy of the 2017 Field Day Rules. Or you can goto the ARRL Field Day web page at
http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Field-Day/2017/2017%20Rules.pdf .

We normally use computer logging for Field Day. One such program that we have used is the N3FJP Field Day Logger, which you can download from the the N3FJP web page at:http://www.n3jfp.com/fieldday.html. Or you can find it at the bottom of this page. Please note that the actual program at the bottom of this page is in a ZIP file format. Thus you would need to download it and unzip it to your hard drive. Once it is on your hard drive you can then install it on your computer. The current version is version 5.4. Field Day participants using the logging program our club call sign W3OC, may use the password: 28684.N3FJP also has a YouTube video that explains how to setup and use his Field Day software. You can find it at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJEIXuoKWqc
Please note that the N3FJP Field Day Logging Program is only for our use. It is not a general purpose logging program. During the setup we normally use
our club call W3OC, with latitude and longitude settings of 40.22, 79.52, CQ Zone 5, ITU Zone 8. The Field Day Class will be announced at Field Day, while
our ARRL Section is WPA. You should change the Optional settings for the operator and initials as you change operators.

Field Day Check List
At the bottom of this page is a 'Field Day Check List' of items that you should consider bringin with you when attending Field Day. It is a reprint from the June 2012 issue of our club newsletter 'The Spark Gap'.

If you wish to visit other Pittsburgh area Field Day sites, you can find a short list of them at the bottom of this web page. Or you can search the
ARRL Field Day locators on the internet at http://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator
